Ar-Raqib — The Watchful: الرَّقِيبُ
Meaning
Vigilance from which nothing is absent — 5:117 has Jesus say "You are witness over all things" with this root, and 4:1 closes "Allah is ever watchful over you." Against Al-Basir (#27, seeing) and Al-Hafiz (#38, guarding): Raqib stresses constant, attentive oversight.
Textual references
- Qur’an 5:117
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Live the unwatched moments as watched; they are.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
