Al-Mujib — The Responsive: الْمُجِيبُ
Meaning
The One who answers the caller — 11:61: "my Lord is near, responsive." Nearness and response are joined: no intermediary, no unheard call. Response may be giving, deferring, or diverting — all are answering, not ignoring.
Textual references
- Qur’an 11:61
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Call with presence; the Responsive has already promised nearness (2:186).
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
Sources & methodology
- Qur’an 11:61 (cf. 2:186)
