Al-Wakil — The Trustee, the Disposer of Affairs: الْوَكِيلُ
Meaning
The One entrusted with all affairs who executes them perfectly — 3:173: "Allah suffices us, and He is the best Trustee," said at Uhud’s aftermath. Tawakkul (reliance) is the human answer to this name: entrust, then act.
Textual references
- Qur’an 3:173
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Entrustment is not passivity; it is acting with the outcome already secured.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
