Al-Qahhar — The Irresistible Subduer: الْقَهَّارُ
Meaning
The One before whom all power submits — the intensive form, used in the Qur’anic challenge "the One, the Subduer" (12:39; 13:16; 39:4). Every false claimant of ultimacy is answered by this name.
Textual references
- Qur’an 13:16
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Read it when power intimidates: every qahhar among creatures answers to Al-Qahhar.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
