Al-Muqit — The Sustainer, the Controller of Provision: الْمُقِيتُ
Meaning
Power over portions — apportioning to each creature its exact nourishment and having power over all. 4:85: "Allah is over all things a Sustainer." Classical lexicons join qut (nourishment) with qadr (measure): sustenance precisely metered.
Textual references
- Qur’an 4:85
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Your portion is measured by Al-Muqit; envy disputes His measuring.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
