Al-Hasib — The Reckoner, the Sufficient: الْحَسِيبُ
Meaning
The One who accounts with precision and suffices those who rely — 4:86: "Allah is Reckoner over all things," and the supplication "Allah suffices us" (3:173) draws on the sufficiency sense. Reckoning here is exactness without error or forgetfulness.
Textual references
- Qur’an 4:86
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Two comforts: nothing miscounted against you, and Himself sufficient for you.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
