Al-Mu’min — The Giver of Security: الْمُؤْمِنُ
Meaning
The One who confirms truth and grants safety — from the same root as iman (faith, security). In 59:23 it follows As-Salam: He is both peace itself and the One who makes His servants secure. Human faith answers divine faithfulness.
Textual references
- Qur’an 59:23
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Trust is theological before it is psychological: security has a Source.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
Sources & methodology
- Qur’an 59:23
- Sahih al-Bukhari 2736 (the 99 names)
Verse citations were checked against the Qur’an text. Claims that could not be verified were omitted. No recitation counts, guaranteed effects, or per-name hadith benefits are asserted.
