Al-Muhaymin — The Guardian, the Overseer: الْمُهَيْمِنُ
Meaning
The watcher over all things who protects and determines what is sound — in 59:23, and the same root describes the Qur’an as "guardian" over prior scripture in 5:48. Oversight here is protective, not merely observational.
Textual references
- Qur’an 59:23
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Nothing watched over by Al-Muhaymin is unwitnessed; nothing entrusted to Him is lost.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
Sources & methodology
- Qur’an 59:23 (cf. 5:48 for the root)
- Sahih al-Bukhari 2736 (the 99 names)
Verse citations were checked against the Qur’an text. Claims that could not be verified were omitted. No recitation counts, guaranteed effects, or per-name hadith benefits are asserted.
