Al-Aziz — The Almighty, the Invincible: الْعَزِيزُ
Meaning
Might that cannot be resisted or diminished — among the most frequent divine names in the Qur’an (e.g. closing 59:23, paired with the All-Wise). Izzah belongs to Him essentially; He grants a share of dignity to whom He wills (3:26, 63:8).
Textual references
- Qur’an 59:23
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Seek honor from its owner rather than performing for its borrowers.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
