Al-Mu’izz — The Bestower of Honor: الْمُعِزُّ
Meaning
The One who grants might and dignity — with Al-Mudhill (#25), unfolding 3:26: "You honor whom You will and humble whom You will." Honor (izzah) given here is real but derivative; withheld from wrongdoing as discipline, granted to obedience as gift.
Textual references
- Qur’an 3:26
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Honor sought outside His granting becomes the humiliation of the next name.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
