Ar-Rafi’ — The Exalter: الرَّافِعُ
Meaning
The One who raises whom He wills by grace — the pair of Al-Khafid (#22), sharing the 56:3 root echo. Elevation here is rank with God and among people (cf. 58:11 of the believers raised in degrees), never self-seizure.
Textual references
No direct verse ascription for this exact name-form is established — the name is contemplated via the classical listing and related texts noted in Sources. This uncertainty is stated rather than filled.
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Ask elevation from the Exalter rather than manufacturing it from comparison.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
Sources & methodology
- Qur’an 56:3 (root echo, not a direct name verse — see methodology)
- Sahih al-Bukhari 2736 (the 99 names)
Verse citations were checked against the Qur’an text. Claims that could not be verified were omitted. No recitation counts, guaranteed effects, or per-name hadith benefits are asserted.
