Al-Mudhill — The Giver of Humiliation: الْمُذِلُّ
Meaning
The One who abases whom He wills by justice — the pair of Al-Mu’izz (#24) from the same 3:26. Humiliation here is never cruelty; it is the moral consequence of arrogance meeting truth, administered by the Just.
Textual references
- Qur’an 3:26
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
What arrogance builds, this name levels — read it as warning before it is read as fate.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
