Al-Kabir — The Most Great: الْكَبِيرُ
Meaning
Greatness of being before which all else is small — 13:9: "the Great, the Exalted." Every takbir ("Allahu akbar") invokes it: not comparison (greater than X) but absoluteness — great beyond measure or rival.
Textual references
- Qur’an 13:9
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Say it when anything looms large; perspective is worship.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
