Al-Barr — The Source of All Goodness: الْبَرُّ
Meaning
Benign goodness overflowing to creation — 52:28: "He is the Benign, the Merciful," said by the people of Paradise looking back. Bir (goodness) from Him is both gentle and profuse; human birr answers it in kind.
Textual references
- Qur’an 52:28
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Paradise’s retrospect names Him so; live now as its prospective citizen.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
