Al-Muta’ali — The Exalted Above All: الْمُتَعَالِي
Meaning
Transcendence over every unworthy ascription — 13:9: "the Great, the Exalted." Against Al-Ali (#36, highness) and Al-Kabir (#37, greatness): Muta’ali stresses rising above partners, flaws, and the limits minds impose.
Textual references
- Qur’an 13:9
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Purify descriptions of Him as carefully as you purify worship of Him.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
