Al-Awwal — The First: الْأَوَّلُ
Meaning
Existing before all else, with no beginning — with the three below in 57:3: "He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden." The Prophet’s supplication (Muslim 2713) glosses: "You are the First, and there is nothing before You."

The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
