Al-Akhir — The Last: الْآخِرُ
Meaning
Remaining after all else passes, with no end — 57:3, glossed in Muslim 2713: "You are the Last, and there is nothing after You." Every ending is encompassed, never encompassing Him.
Textual references
- Qur’an 57:3
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Mourn and release: whatever ends was held by the One who does not.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
