Al-Alim — The All-Knowing: الْعَلِيمُ
Meaning
Knowledge complete, prior, and surrounding — of the concealed and the revealed, the minute and the vast. 2:32 has the angels confess "You are the Knowing, the Wise"; the closing pairs "Knowing, Wise" and "Hearing, Knowing" recur across the Qur’an.
Textual references
- Qur’an 2:32
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Nothing you hide from people is hidden from Him; nothing hidden from you is hidden from Him.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
