Ash-Shahid — The Witness: الشَّهِيدُ
Meaning
Presence at and testimony over all things — 4:79: "sufficient is Allah as witness." Against Ar-Raqib (#43, watchful) and Al-Basir (#27, seeing): Shahid adds the courtroom weight — His witness suffices as evidence and will testify.
Textual references
- Qur’an 4:79
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
The witness you need for hidden good and the witness to fear for hidden wrong are one.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
