Al-Mubdi’ — The Originator: الْمُبْدِئُ
Meaning
The One who initiates creation — always with Al-Mu’id (#59): 85:13, "He originates and repeats." Against Al-Bari (#12): Bari stresses flawless bringing-forth; Mubdi stresses the first initiating. Beginnings belong to Him before they belong to effort.
Textual references
No direct verse ascription for this exact name-form is established — the name is contemplated via the classical listing and related texts noted in Sources. This uncertainty is stated rather than filled.
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Begin in His name; origination is His act before it is your project.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
