Al-Majeed — The Glorious: الْمَجِيدُ
Meaning
Glory abundant and perfect — 11:73 ("He is Praiseworthy, Glorious") and 85:15 ("Lord of the Throne, the Glorious"). Distinguish from Al-Maajid (#65, the Noble): Majeed stresses vast glory; Maajid, nobility of essence. Both close the tashahhud’s praise.
Textual references
- Qur’an 11:73
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Praise Him gloriously and sparingly compare Him to anything else.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
