Al-Halim — The Forbearing: الْحَلِيمُ
Meaning
Restraint from hastening punishment despite full knowledge and power — 2:225 closes "Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing" after legislation on oaths. Forbearance here is strength deferred, not weakness or unawareness.
Textual references
- Qur’an 2:225
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
His patience with you is the model for your patience with others — and the warning.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
