Al-Ghaniyy — The Self-Sufficient: الْغَنِيُّ
Meaning
Free of every need while all need Him — 2:263 ("Allah is Self-Sufficient, Forbearing") and 47:38 ("Allah is the Self-Sufficient, and you are the needy"). Against Al-Mughni (#89, the Enricher): Ghaniyy is His own independence; Mughni, His enriching of others.
Textual references
- Qur’an 2:263
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Worship adds nothing to Him and everything to you; come needy, leave enriched.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
