Al-Badi’ — The Incomparable Originator: الْبَدِيعُ
Meaning
Wonderful innovator without precedent or peer — 2:117: "Originator of the heavens and the earth." Against Al-Bari (#12) and Al-Mubdi (#58): Badi stresses marvel and matchlessness of the originated order — creation that astonishes is its signature.
Textual references
- Qur’an 2:117
The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.
Reflection
Wonder is worship’s doorway; let invention in creation point to the Inventor.
A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.
