Meaning

The One by whose decree hardship befalls — always with An-Nafi (#92). 6:17: "If Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He." Harm is never injustice from Him; it is trial, discipline, or expiation, bounded by wisdom and lifted by the same hand.

Textual references

No direct verse ascription for this exact name-form is established — the name is contemplated via the classical listing and related texts noted in Sources. This uncertainty is stated rather than filled.

The 99-names hadith itself (Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; Sahih Muslim 2677) does not enumerate the names; the enumeration order follows the Tirmidhi listing, whose chain scholars grade as weak for the list itself.

Reflection

In hardship, face the Decree-er rather than only fighting the means.

A personal contemplation aid — not doctrine and not a promised outcome.

Sources & methodology

  • Qur’an 6:17 (harm and removal ascribed — see methodology)
  • Sahih al-Bukhari 2736 (the 99 names)
